Diagnostic testing is a cornerstone of healthcare and has a huge impact on our nursing practice. But, how familiar are we with the implications of test results? How do the subtleties of preparing for, diagnostic testing impact our patients? What is the relative accuracy of diagnostic testing and “laboratory error”? How long does it take for a given intervention to impact a given test result? How are tests performed and resulted?
These questions are barely touched-on during our nursing education when we are often overwhelmed by acquiring the basic fundamentals of knowledge necessary for safe nursing practice. As we gain experience and move from novice to expert, questions arise and are not often addressed in our clinical practices, making the laboratory something of a mystery to nurses. This conference is designed for NP’s, RN’s, LPN’s, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, and other allied health professionals with an interest in becoming proficient in the area of diagnostic testing.
$150 includes 8 contact hours to satisfy requirements mandated by The State of Hawaii Board of Nursing, breakfast, lunch, and all materials.

Goals and Objectives:
Participants will acquire knowledge and insight into use of clinical diagnostics. We will learn the hows and whys of the laboratory and acquire the knowledge and skills that will enable us to communicate effectively around laboratory issues and provide the best care for our patients!
