HAPPY 2021!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!

“You can, you should, and if you are brave enough to start, you will”

Aloha, Colleagues!

A Happy Healthy, & Prosperous New Year to All!  BETTER YET,  Congratulations on surviving 2020!  If you are reading this, you have survived and conquered. The end of our battle with CoVid-19 is in sight.  Many of us have already been immunized, and soon everyone who wants to be, will be.  Our families, friends, and communities will benefit from m-RNA technology that disrupts the manufacture of the virus spike protein, making the virus both antigenic and harmless. (I love those words “antigenic” & “harmless” taken together!  They’re even better than “chocolate” and “ice cream”)

If you know me, you know that (like most nurse kapuna) I am a huge advocate for immunizations.  The reason for this is that I suffered from &  survived all the childhood diseases (viral exanthums) before there were vaccines against them.   Measles (rubeola), Mumps, German Measles (rubella) chickenpox, scarlet fever.  I proudly display the smallpox vaccine scar on my arm. And, thanks to multiple trips to the local fire station (where vaccines were administered to children in Ye Olden Days) I was spared polio. Like you, I am totally against human pain & suffering, so I cannot imagine why anyone would (barring absolute contraindication) decline the CoVid vaccine!

So, as we are fighting exhaustion and  getting ready to breathe a collective sigh of relief, are we really going to make  New Year’s Resolutions?  It’s great to plan ahead, but right now, I feel like some self-nurturing and mindfulness are order.  Could that be my New Year’s resolution for 2021?  Taking better care of myself?

Whatever you decide, remember, the most lasting changes are made incrementally.  Break big dreams down into do-able steps, and reward yourself for every small achievement.  Understand why the habits you are trying to change meet a need, then find another way to get that need met —in a good way!

Join us on January 12 (PST), February 9 (EST), 2021 for Healing the Healer: ExtremeSelf-Care for Nurses and January 20, 2021 (HST) for Pharmacology for Nurses.  See our website http://www.hawaiinursesce.com

for more details.

Be sure to Save the Dates, March 9 & 10 , 2021 for Our Big Two – Day conference, You Only Live Twice:  Cardiology & Gerontology for Nurses.  Details will be announced and registration will open for this timely event on Valentines Day, as we do not yet know if we will be able to meet in person at The Blue Note, or at a distance via Zoom.  Either way, it will be fun and informative, so stay tuned.
