AS NURSES, we focus on healing the whole person – not simply his or her illness.  Yet, in caring for others. We too often neglect ourselves.

The interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit, the socio-cultural context, relationships & emotions, and environments combine to make each of us unique in our humanity. 

On TUESDAY MARCH 10, 2020 in Honolulu Hawaii join us for this important national conference, combining clinical assessment and diagnostics with a total approach to the body, mind, and spirit of all people.

This conference is designed for NP’s, RN’s, LPN’s, Pharmacists and other allied health professionals

(contact hours for nursing licenses only).

Single day $200 includes 8 contact hours for nurse licensing renewal in Hawaii and all 50 states, breakfast, lunch, and all materials.

Goals and Objectives

At the conclusion of Day One (March 10, 2020), the participant shall:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the spirituality of healing in the Hawaiian culture.
• Be cognizant of  pathophysiology and clinical clusters in the interpretation of diagnostic findings findings including but not limited to laboratory (the Hemogram, Chemistries, is) and Imaging: (Flat Plates, Ultrasound, CT & MRI)
• Have a heightened awareness of techniques for evaluation of mental status, including mood, affect, proper utilization of  the Mini Mental State and the mental status and neurological examinations.
• Appropriately apply reliable, valid tools and evaluate individuals stress levels & general well-being.
• Identify the profound relationships between physical, mental, and spiritual illness and well-being.
• Demonstrate a heightened awareness of the concept of cultural safety and its impact on our lives as well as the lives of patients, families, staff, and communities.
• Identify ways to enhance dignity and cultivate respect in clinical practice.

At the conclusion of Day Two (March 11, 2020), the participant shall:

• Demonstrate a heightened awareness of the bio-psycho-social issues which impact nurses collectively and individually.
• Identify steps to improve our individual and collective lives in the context of wellness.
• Have a heightened awareness of state of the art strategies for wound treatment and therapeutics with a focus on innovations in caring for the patient with diabetes mellitus.
• Recognize multiple causes of trauma both physical,  mental, and emotional, and their sequelae.
• Demonstrate and understanding of the etiology,  signs and symptoms, and treatment strategies of post traumatic stress disorder.
• Demonstrate a renewed understanding of the anatomy and pathophysiology of the nervous and immune systems.
• Identify the impact of physical and emotional stress on the neurological and immunological systems.
• Be able to identify and implement strategies for ameliorating the impact of stress in individuals.
• Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of whole medical systems outside of Western Medicine.
• Apply principles of cultural safety to the cultivation of  an appreciation of transcultural nursing.
• Apply knowledge acquired to selected clinical case studies.
• Apply knowledge acquired to oneself.
