DON’T STOP! – Hawaii Nurses CE

DON’T STOP!

“The future interests me – I’m going to spend the rest of my life there.” – Mark Twain

Aloha, Colleagues!

I’ve been thinking about 2020. The Year of the Nurse, truly was, but not in the way we wanted or expected:  The pandemic challenged us individually and collectively on many levels and intensities.

Halloween & Thanksgiving celebrations have had a devastating impact & resulted in  exponential growth of morbidity and mortality around the world.   Yet, Hawaii has remained relatively stable.  Since the surge in early summer, we have worked hard to  “flatten the curve” and been able to avoid the morbidity & mortality experienced elsewhere.  We, as nurses, have played a crucial role in pandemic control, by caring for and teaching our patients, families, staff, and communities about health and hygiene practices.

Please, DON’T STOP!

Christmas, the biggest family holiday for most of us,  is around the corner.  People are annoyed at having to wear masks and keep their distance.  How tragic would it be for the pandemic to surge just as the end is in sight?   Vaccines are becoming available.   Please, don’t let down your guard.  Smaller gatherings are safer from an infection control perspective, but an added perk is that they can be a lot less stressful than the family-dinner-for 40.  Following simple guidelines for a little longer will enable us to be together soon
